Meet Litcy

Your neighbor. Your voice.

Neighbor, community builder, dedicated activist.

WHY AM I RUNNING FOR OFFICE?

I aspire to live in a world where everyone’s fundamental human rights are respected and protected. It is really quite simple - we all deserve equitable access to safe streets, affordable homes, healthy food, clean air and water, quality education, employment opportunities, healthcare. We all deserve to be heard and to have hope for the future.

But without active participation in our government, this world is just a dream.

For too long, our government in Illinois has relied on party politics and the voices of those with money and power. No wonder so many of us feel we are not being heard!

But I believe that together, we the people have political power that does not depend on access to big money - it simply depends on all of our voices.

Yes, I really believe that.

I believe that because I have been a part of it. In a small coastal village that was being devastated by sea erosion, I helped the community raise their voices, to bring more visibility to the problem. Together, we advocated and organized. We brought leaders from opposing political parties together, so they could HEAR our voices, across party lines. Together we activated, a realistic, achievable solution was found, and today a seawall protects the village.

I believe that my background, my education, and my life as a resident, neighbor and mom in Illinois 12, makes me ideally suited not just to listen to your voices - but to organize practical solutions and work with other legislators on innovative policies that will benefit all of Illinois.

Everyone should have access to political power — to the power that comes from using our voices. Let me carry our voices to Springfield, where every decision made will impact our community - our parks, our businesses our schools. I will raise our voices beyond party politics, so that together we can create a world that we want to live in.

Together, we have the power to make our district, our state and our country better for all.

From Service, to Solutions

Public education & local property taxes

Didn’t we all have a heartbreak when we saw the property tax bill? A major portion goes to fund public education where both my girls get their education from. We raise more than half a million dollars for our public school to finance our teachers. A school in the south side or west side struggle to retain teachers or have basic supplies. Who is winning here? No one.

I propose we look at the success in MA and MI - where they achieved fully funded public education by reducing local property taxes by centralizing the public school funding to the State and expand our revenue streams to achieve fully funded public education. Massachusetts and Michigan have implemented it and enhanced educational equity across the state. It is time Illinois take our step forward for our children and to reduce the burden of our homeowners.

Public safety & Fiscal innovations

Our gate was broken into and bikes were taken from our patio. Our neighbor’s car was stolen. A fellow mom redirected her mails to the suburbs because of mail thefts. A dear friend was held at gunpoint for the sake of her wallet and meagre belongings. We report and there are no follow-ups. We have normalized that nothing is going to happen about public safety. Has anything changed? It is time to end the same old rhetoric.

Enhanced technology to prevent break-ins; data accuracy and accountability from our enforcement system; hold the youth in conflict accountable for their actions and create a preventive system to ensure they are not re-offending.

Let us implement it through Social Impact bonds where the upfront investment for the program will come from social investors. Only once the program is successful , investors will get returns. Successfully reduced recidivism in UK, Australia. Let us bring it to 12th district & Illinois
